Next week I'll be exhibiting at the Amsterdam International Art Festival, so in the spirit of this beautiful city, here's a spotlight on....
'THE PAINT BOX' (Housing de Verfdoos). This modernist building was designed in 1950 using the colour schemes of Belgian artist Joseph Jean Marie Ongenae who spoke of ‘functional glass-facade colourism.
Housing 96 units and 20 shops in Amsterdam-West, it was described as ‘an opened watercolour paint box’ and its now-official name translates as ‘the paint box’. Brilliant!
